Regulations For Dealing With Emergencies

Emergency procedures for the owner and transporters

Both the farmer as the loader and the people transporting animals must have a list of emergency phone numbers to call in case of an accident. These should include:

  1. Police
  2. Fire brigade
  3. Ambulance
  4. Emergency rescue services on the road
  5. Veterinarians on the road

Other contacts that must be included are persons that can help with items such as portable panels, loading ramps, or other equipment for reloading escaped animals after an accident.

Satellite navigation and tracking systems

Vehicles used to transport animals on long journeys must be equipped with a satellite navigation tracking system. The main purpose of this system is for enforcement officers to check that the journey log is accurate and legal. The system installed must be able to check if tailgate or loading flaps are open or closed.
